How to make a Pencil Sketch

This tutorial would deal with the “how to convert” a normal image into a classic pencil sketched photograph. The more you experiment with the techniques you’ll learn in this tutorial, the more different types of effects would you be able to create.
Different features of Photoshop which would be used in this tutorial would be :
  •     Layers
  •     Blending Mode
  •     Image Adjustment Layers
  •     Filters
I actually came up with this when I tried my hand at sketching! And trust me; it was not a pretty sight. So I did what I knew best! The answer to every modern day problem! I used Technology!
And the reason that technology and its sub sets like the formation of the internet have grown so much is because of a mere action called “Sharing”! That is exactly what I am now! So lets Begin!
Take  an image like this

Once that is opened you need to know that to give a normal image a sketched look, you need to desaturate the image which will make it black and white.
Go to [Image > Adjustments > Desaturate ] or simply press [ ctrl + shift + u ]
Make a copy of this layer now by selecting the duplicate layer option. [ Right click on the layer > Duplicate layer ] or Ctrl +J
After doing that, we need to invert the color of this layer. That is done by [ Image > Adjustments > Invert ] or [ ctrl + I ]
Now go to the blending layer option and select the color dodge option
Next step is to go to give the image a blur (Gaussian) which will work in favor of making the image visible. [ Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur ]  Anything from between 5px to 40px would work well depending upon the image type. Ideally use around 15 to 25.

Your very own pencil sketch is complete.
